TYLER PERRY: AFRICAN-AMERICAN STRIVING IN HOLLYWOOD PT.3 updated with new videos, new link, NEW MOVIE COMING SOON

Born Emmit Perry Jr., Tyler was born in New Orleans to Emmit and Willie Maxine Perry. His father built houses for a living and was an abusive man. His mother, died at age 64, gave him tremendous love and introduced Jesus to his life.Tyler suffered much physical and mental abuse by his father, who refuse to build his own house because he was satisfied with receiving a paycheck every week.

Mr. Perry does have a woman in his life but will only say that he wishes to have kids to share and leave all that he has accomplish in life to. He says she is very special to him and that he doesn't feel the pressure to get married.

He lives west of Atlanta for now but has a house in Beverly Hills and an apartment in New York. He has six cars and two airplanes--a Gulfstream 3 and a seaplane that takes him to his 25-acre island home in the Bahamas, that he bought two years ago. The place in the Bahamas is the place he goes to when he needs to calm his brain down says Ron Eastman, President of Tyler Perry, Inc.

Perry's says" Too many people focus on the money because they think it gives them value.But if your an ass without money you'll just be an ass with money."

Perry is a very generous man. He gives of large and small. Most of his donations are done through the Tyler Perry Foundation. There are three categorizes that his foundation contributes to faithfully: the homeless, because in early years when he was first stating out in the business he was living out of his car for a while,diabetes, this is what afflicted his mother and social justice. He donated $1 million dollars to the NAACP, the largest individual donation they have ever received and another million to help rebuild Haiti after the earthquake.

He has sent 60 black kids to Disney world after the Philadelphia campers were denied use of a local swim club when members complained. He has funded the digging of well in Africa. He has also built a new home for an elderly woman who lost her home due to a fire. He seen this on the news so he no longer watches the news

Perry's power and success penetrates television, home videos, and books. His first novel, Don't Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings, was a New York Time best-seller and did great at the theater.

Tyler is not the richest African-American in the nation but he is running a very close second to his friend Oprah. He has been ranked No. 19 on Forbes' Celebrity 100 list of the most powerful people in the entertainment industry. He earned $130 million in 2010.

Perry has a 300,000-square-foot facility in the Greenbriar area of Atlanta, Georgia, where Tyler Perry Studio is housed. He has more than 100 full time employees who are from every ethnic background there is on earth.

Mark Swinton, who is a show runner, producer and director has worked for Perry for four years says,"There's something special going on here. Tyler Perry is our Berry Gordy."

Perry has several television shows, House of Pain and Meet the Browns. He's done several plays that are centered around everyday problems,which his favorite character that he plays, Medea,is hilarious.

There are several more irons in the fire, such as a deal with TBS for his newest show, For Better or Worse, which is based off the characters from his film, Why Did I Get Married? A new Medea is in the works.

Tylers plays, the root of his success, continues to sell out major arena natoinwide.

Life would not be the same if there was no drama to contend with and yes, Perry has some too.Spike Lee, a notably director criticized Perry on his films saying that they created unfavorable stereotypes by some of Perry's characters.

Tyler Perry's response is that he believes that Spike can do what he does and that he can do what he does. "We both have a voice and very different experiences in this life." says Perry

Perry says he feel like he is just beginning and that he loves the new guy he has become." I'm more of myself than I've ever been."
