LOVING A DRUG ADDICT (new update: death of Amy Whinehouse)It happens again: Whitney Houston death.
74A PLANT THAT WILL LEAD TO DISASTER
IN THE BEGINING
We met many years ago.Dated, fell in love then decided to move in together after a twelve year courtship. We were happy and enjoyed our careers. He was in hospitality and I was in the health field.Life was good and the money was getting even better. But then drugs became a part of his life.I don't know when it first begun or why he decided to try them.I do know that the next eight years of my life with him was truly a living hell.
In order for you to understand my life when I was living with a drug addict you first must understand the power of this drug and the powerlessness of the addict.
Drug addiction is a chronic relapsing brain disease that is characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. Its considered a disease because drugs change the brain and the mood of the user.
Which Brain Is Yours
His addiction
This man in my life, that i loved for so many years no longer exist. His life turned into a constant and persistent need to look for crack, smoke crack and begging me for a ride to get it, because he has now sold his car to his drug dealer for more crack. These actions and procedures would go on for several hours and sometimes several days. I was at my wits end.I stayed with him through one relapse, after being clean for two months he was back at it again.I wouldn't be around for the next time.
Why do people take drugs? The same reason a person overeats or cut on their self
a)To feel good-most abused drugs produce intense feelings of pleasure.
b)To fell better-to lessen the feelings of distress or pain.
c)To do better-to improve performance (athletic or cognitive.)
d)Curiosity-because they see others doing it (this happens to adolescents mostly.)
Drug use has been linked to HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases. There are many signs and symptoms of a drug addict that we as loved ones may not pick up on.If you have the feeling that someone close to you may be a drug user please do not hesitate to get them help for that very minute could be their last.
Addiction is not privy to one race, one pacific age group or of the rich or poor.It will destroy families. friends, relationships, careers and if not handled quickly or properly it will most diffidently destroy a life.

His life now
A lot of time has past since going through all this but I must say that It has made me stronger and very, very wise to human frailness.
I'm happy to say that after several stints at rehabilitation centers the man I loved so deeply and for such a long time has not touched drugs in many years. He has become a better person and although we are not together we still care for each other due to the bond we formed during his addiction. He's moved on to bigger and greater things. If you did not know him while he was addicted you would not know that he had such a problem.By the grace of God I believe we both made it through this turmoil and i wish him all the luck and love in the world.
Whitney Houston
Another great singer, mother and woman has been found dead due to prescription drugs I feel that this is such a sad time for all. I think the Medical field needs to do a better job in monitoring the doctors that are giving out these drugs so freely.
She has been known for using other drugs, street drugs that, that she had at times denied, but soon went to rehab.
She was a great singer and actress.
She leaves a lovely 18 year old daughter to mourn her loss, a loving mother and cousin.Along with many friends and fans.
Her, Micheal and many others are tearing Heaven up with great joy and songs.

We don't know for sure why Whitney Houston died.
this is so true for many people now days. glad to see you doing better
You expressed your feelings very well. I grew up in an alcoholic home. It is indeed hard to live with. You were very brave and can be proud of youself for finding the courage to make a new life for yourself. That can be very hard. And if you had not, it is possible that he would not have had to face his addictions. You may have helped both of you out of a difficult situation.
Wow! How difficult that would have been! I work at a halfway house and see the results of people with addictions. Many have lost their families and are trying to build life anew without drugs. It is a difficult path! My best to you and yours.
Thank you roshall for your honesty. Having grown up with an alcoholic father, we always called it "drinking too much" I know the personal effects of aditictions of any sort. They profoundly hurt the addict and those around them.
Roshall you have written on a sensitive topic and done yourself proud. It is not easy living with an addict, regardless of the type of addiction, drugs, alcohol, self-abuse, overeating, undereating. The important point here is that you survived. I am glad that he found a way out but I am especially relieved that you can express yourself through your writing at the end of a challenging time in your life. I wish you well.
